Recycling Instructions

The Agency only accepts commercial recycling at the Kingston location.  You will be required to show proof of business.

Residents of Ulster County can take their recycling and trash directly to municipal recycling drop off centers (MRDC)/transfer stations. Find a list of these here. Several towns allow non-residents to use their drop-off sites. Most towns require users to purchase an annual permit; call towns for details. Alternatively, residents can hire commercial sanitation companies to pick up trash; please click here for a list of permitted MSW (trash) haulers.  Recycling instructions for municipal recycling centers are below. Call Ulster County Resource Recovery Agency Recycling Hotline with any questions at (845) 336-3336.

Trash from commercial businesses or other large loads of residential trash (more than 2 cubic yards) should be taken to the Ulster County Resource RecoveryAgency Transfer Stations. Ulster County Resource Recovery Agency has two transfer stations; Ulster Transfer Station is located at 999 Flatbush Road, Kingston, NY and the New Paltz Transfer Station is located at 1 Clearwater Road, New Paltz, NY. Call (845) 336-0600 for fees and information on recycling, trash or composting.
