Residents of Ulster County can take their recycling and trash directly
to municipal recycling drop off centers (MRDC)/transfer stations. Several
towns allow non-residents to use their drop-off sites. Most towns require
users to purchase an annual permit; call towns for details. Alternatively,
residents can hire commercial sanitation companies to pick up trash;
look under "garbage removal" in the yellow pages. Residents of the City
and the Town of Kingston have curbside pick up for trash and recycling.
Recycling instructions for municipal recycling centers are below. Call
Ulster County Resource Recovery Agency Recycling Hotline for information
at (845) 336-3336.
Businesses with small amounts of trash and recycling (under two cubic
yards) can use their municipal transfer station. Large loads of trash
should be taken to the Ulster County Resource Recovery Agency Regional
Transfer Stations located in the Town of Ulster on Route 32 near Route
199/209 and in the Town of New Paltz on Route 32 and Clearwater Road
four miles north of the village. Call (845) 336-0600 for details and
fees and information on recycling.
